The Crossing with a Cause – Cancun 2025

Saving Our Sharks Foundation in collaboration with the famous open water marathon The Cancun Crossing, They are joining forces once again to conserve sharks in the Mexican Caribbean with their "Crossing for a Cause" initiative. This collaboration is designed to raise awareness about sharks, and raise funds to protect these species vital to the marine ecosystem.

The Crossing with a Cause It will be held for the second consecutive time, within the framework of The Cancun Crossing, that is celebrated from May 16-18, 2025. A challenging annual sporting event in which athletes from around the world swim an impressive 10-kilometer distance from the coast of Cancún to Isla Mujeres. This open water marathon has become a tradition since 1980 and is one of the top 100 sporting events in the world, according to the ranking of WOWSA.

Saving Our Sharks Foundation joins forces with the El Cruce Cancun marathon, through its program “The Crossing with a Cause”, where swimmers can make donations and contribute directly to research, education and conservation projects for sharks in the Mexican Caribbean.

“The Crossing with a Cause” not only seeks to support the protection of sharks, but also to foster a greater public understanding of the fundamental role these predators play in the health of the oceans.

Through this initiative, swimmers have the opportunity to transform their personal challenge into a meaningful act of marine conservation. The Crossing with a Cause It is more than a swimming journey; it is a call to action to protect marine biodiversity and ensure the future of our seas.
