Shark Safari: From shark fishing to conservation.
Finally, the dream has become a reality! The tide is turning, and it's bringing momentous changes.
What once seemed an impossible dream is now a tangible reality in the Mexican Caribbean. With determination, vision, and your support, the former shark fishermen are embarking on a bold new chapter—one that honors their heritage, protects their oceans, and redefines what it means to coexist with nature.
Welcome to Shark Safari, an unforgettable ecological experience born from the heart of tradition and driven by the power of transformation.
At the Foundation Saving Our Sharks, We are proud to present more than just a marine tourism initiative. Shark Safari is a movement: a meaningful journey from exploitation to protection, from survival to responsible management. And now, we invite you to dive in.
From Fishhooks to Hope: The Transformation of a Community
For generations, the fishermen of the Kab Xok Cooperative in the Mexican Caribbean knew the sea as a source of life, but also as a place where sharks were feared, hunted, and misunderstood. Fishing was a way to survive. But over time, the impact on shark populations and marine ecosystems became impossible to ignore.
That's when the change began.
With the support of the Saving Our Sharks Foundation, Scuba Life And with their allies, a powerful transition took place. These fishermen, with decades of ocean knowledge in their blood, made the courageous leap from extractors to protectors. Today, they are Masters of the Sea, the skilled guides behind Shark Safari, bringing their expertise to a mission based on respect, sustainability, and conservation science.
They have not abandoned the sea; they have redefined their relationship with it.

Dive with Purpose. Discover Shark Safari.
Shark Safari is not your average snorkeling excursion. It's a unique experience where visitors not only see sharks, but also help save them.
The expedition is fully organized and guided by the Kab Xok Cooperative And it has the support of marine biologists from the Saving Our Sharks Foundation. Each expedition is part citizen science, part cultural travel, and part conservation action. You'll sail through the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean alongside majestic sharks, learning about their behavior, their importance to the health of the ocean, and the threats they face. You'll also have the exceptional opportunity to snorkel with them for a few unforgettable minutes: a life-changing experience that will deeply connect you with nature.
But most importantly: your presence supports ongoing efforts to protect them.
